Programme

Day 1 - Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Nairobi
Our driver/guide will pick you up and transfer to your hotel for overnight. In case of a late arrival we will book you in to one of the new airport hotels which are very convenient and comfortable.

Day 2 - Nairobi - Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast , your driver/guide will meet you and give you a quick briefing on what to expect for the whole trip and also for the day ahead. Your Safari then starts! Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, approximately four hours drive! Enroute, you will drive along the Eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley, and have stunning views of the extinct volcanoes and the lakes that dot the floor of the valley. Arrive around lunchtime - afternoon game-drive - Dinner & Overnight Lake Nakuru National Park

Day 3 - Lake Nakuru National Park
Spend the day at Nakuru with early morning and afternoon game-drives. The word ‘Nakuru’ means ‘place of dust’ in the Maasai dialect and the lake is a soda ash lake with very alkaline water, and is famous for its’ huge flocks of flamingoes. The National Park surrounding the Lake is Home to the largest concentration of White and Black rhinos in the Rift Valley. Lunch at one of the lodges/camps or picnic at the Baboon Cliff. Afternoon return to Lake Naivasha for Dinner & Overnight Lake Nakuru National Park

Day 4 - Lake Nakuru- Lake Naivasha
early morning game-drive followed by breakfast at the lodge/camp - proceed to Lake Naivasha - one of the fresh water lakes at the Great Rift ValleyCheck in at one of the lodges along the lake shore and enjoy lunch. Afternoon we have different options. You could relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens where antelope, giraffe, zebra come and graze. A boat ride on the lake where you will see lots of birdlife and hippos or a visit to Hellsgate National Park which is named after a narrow break in the cliffs. Dinner & Overnight at one of the lodges along the lake.

Day 5 - Naivasha to Masai Mara Game Reserve
Early departure today ! The drive to the Maasai Mara is a long one, about 5-6 hours to the entrance of the Reserve, however once you are there you will see that the drive was well worth it. Covering some 700 square kilometers, the Maasai Mara is the jewel in the crown of wildlife reserves. The concentration of game within the Reserve and the neighboring Group Ranches almost guarantees that you will see the 4 of the big 5 on your first game drive! The Masai Mara also known as Maasai Mara or The Mara is named in honour of the Maasai people - the ancestral inhabitants of this area. The Mara is a part of the Greater Mara Ecosystem which include several group ranches. Depending on which camp you choose, we might plan a lunch enroute or arrive on time for lunch. Day 6 & 7 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Spend two full days in the Masai Mara with early morning and afternoon game-drives and lunch at the camp/lodge - alternatively spend most of the day on game-drive with a packed lunch! During July/August the annual Migration of Wildebeest takes place, this is the right time to spend two full days in the Mara - you might be lucky and view a spectacular river Dinner and overnight at one of the camps/lodges at the Masai Mara Game Reserve

Day 8 - Masai Mara Game Reserve - Lake Victoria
Depart from the Mara after breakfast, drive to the border with Tanzania, border formalities. Here you will change driver and vehicle. This is a long day, we will carry a packed lunch so that there is no rush. Start your Tanzania adventure with a visit to Lake Victoria, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. The lake was named after Queen Victoria by the explorer John Speke in 1858 while on expedition with Richard Burton to locate the source of the Nile River. Arrival after lunch - relax the rest of the afternoon and enjoy the view over the Lake. Dinner & Overnight Lake Victoria

Day 9 - Lake Victoria to Serengeti
After breakfast enter the Serengeti National park which is very close by. A packed lunch will be carried and game-drive enroute to the camp - Dinner & Overnight at the Camp. During the Migration in June/July the best area would be the western Corridor or northern part. Central Serengeti is always a great place as starting point for your game-drives in different directions. Stay in a basic camp to get the real safari experience or choose a bit more comfort in one of the luxury tented camps or lodges. Dinner & Overnight Serengeti

Day 10 & 11 - Serengeti
Spend two full days in the Serengeti with game-drives. This gives a good chance to cover a large area and see a lot of wildlife. The Serengeti is named after Siringet, a Masai word for endless plains .The park is one of the world’s best known wildlife sanctuaries and symbolises the classic Africa safari. With more than 2 million wildebeest and a large number of Thomson gazelle and zebra , it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. The area is so vast even at the height of the wildebeest migration, when over one million animals are moving, the Serengeti never seems crowded. The park lies between the shores of Lake Victoria to the west, Lake Eyasi in the South and the Great Rift Valley to the East. Return to the camp for a hot lunch or spend the day on game-drive with a packed lunch in the park . Dinner & Overnight Serengeti

Day 12 - Serengeti - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Departure from the Serengeti in the morning, game-drive enroute. Proceed to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a packed lunch. Visit the Olduvai Gorge also known as “the Cradle of Mankind” it is a steep side ravine in the Great Rift Valley that stretches through East Africa. The Olduvai Gorge is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world and has been instrumental in further understanding of early human evolution. Brief visit to the museum and the visitors centre before proceeding towards the Ngorongoro Crater rim. Dinner & Overnight at the Ngorongoro Crater Rim. The lodge is built high on the crater rim with amazing views over and into the crate- a truly breath taking natural wonder!

Day 13 - Ngorongoro Crater visit
After an early breakfast, descend into Ngorongoro crater for a game-drive with a packed lunch. The crater is the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera, 600 meters deep, about 20km across and 300sq kms in the area. The steep sides of the crater provide a natural enclosure for a very wide variety of wildlife and therefore great for game-viewing. Afternoon proceed to Lake Manyara or Karatu for Dinner & Overnight

Day 14 - Ngorongoro/Karatu - Arusha
After a relaxed breakfast proceed to Arusha if time allows we could plan a stopover at a nice project where local disabled people make amazing things, nice to buy some souvenirs and have lunch. Departure from Kilimanjaro airport in the evening or spend a night at Arusha - option to fly to Zanzibar to spend a few days on the beach!
